ISS astronaut captured one of the rarest phenomena: sprite-like blue jets in the upper atmosphere.

It looks like computer graphics, but it’s real: rare lightning strikes not downwards into the ground, but upwards into the upper atmosphere.

    1. My gaming experience tells me that we should make a beeline to that location to collect a trident from hell that will boost my attack but fuck up everything else like charisma and how NPC view you

    2. To my knowledge lightening is normally upwards from the ground, isn’t it? Never downwards.

I saw sprites once on the Subaru NAOJ telescope live feed on Mauna Kea. Couldn’t quite believe it at first, but got the screenshots to prove it! Never, ever thought I’d see them myself, being firmly at sea level for pretty much my whole life.
